More than 300 residents of Millis, Medfield, Holliston, Medway, Norfolk, Franklin and other Metrowest towns stood out in Millis June 16 despite the rain to support the nationwide No Kings peaceful protest.
Press reports said more than 5 million, and perhaps as many as 12 million people, rallied in more than 2100 No Kings events nationwide in communities large and small. Attendees in Millis said they also came from other south shore communities to make their voices heard.
Participants lined both sides of Rt. 109 in Millis holding signs that showed their concern over recent actions taken by the current administration, including attempts to overturn court rulings, cuts to scores of federal programs and illegal efforts to seize thousands of immigrants. Many signs simply proclaimed No Kings.
Nearly all rally-goers also carried and waved American flags in support of the USA and our democracy which most feel is under attack.
Many of the people said the Millis standout was only the first of the day for them, with plans to join the 1,000 person Holliston rally and others in Metrowest communities later in the day. Others indicated plans to attend events in Boston where hundreds of thousands rallied to chant No Kings and support local Pride day.
